History & Vision
Tradition Meets Innovation – Golf History in the Saanenland
Founded in 1959: Already in the 1930s, the first 9-hole golf course between Saanen and Gstaad was established through the initiative of local hoteliers and business owners. It was primarily used by guests visiting the region. During World War II, operations and maintenance of the course were suspended.
After extensive discussions and planning, the decision was made in the spring of 1959 to implement a new and innovative golf project in the Saanenwald, above Saanenmöser. That same year, the Golfclub Gstaad-Saanenland was officially founded.
Thanks to an increase in tourist taxes and a contribution of 10 centimes per overnight stay in the local hotels, approximately CHF 32,000 was raised annually to support the project. This funding made the construction of the 9-hole course possible.
Present Day: Golfing Pleasure at the Highest Level – Surrounded by Breathtaking Nature
Today, Golfclub Gstaad-Saanenland proudly offers a beautifully maintained 18-hole course, nestled in a unique protected wetland of national importance and surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. Our spacious driving range and diverse practice facilities provide the ideal conditions for golfers of all skill levels. A newly built, continuous path system allows for the use of carts on the varied and athletically challenging fairways.
Culinary delights await you in our clubhouse restaurant – the sunny terrace with its magnificent view invites you to relax and enjoy. Any missed shots or lost balls are quickly forgotten here.
The golf club is known for its welcoming, family-like, and sporty atmosphere, offering a perfect mix of local and international guests.
Every golfer and guest is warmly welcome!
